Migrants and employers of skilled migrants in Port Hedland and Karratha will have an opportunity to meet the visiting Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) outreach officer between August 30 and September 3 to discuss immigration issues.
A DIAC spokesman said the department’s regional visits program enables people in communities outside the major metropolitan areas to sit down and talk about specific issues they may face directly with an immigration officer.
“These appointments attract a range of people, from employers and small business owners to community groups, farmers and individuals, who might want specific information or just someone to talk them through a complex matter,” the spokesman said.
“While the department has a great deal of information available over the phone or on the Internet, some people may not be aware of recent policy changes or they may prefer to speak to officers face-to-face, and these visits meet those needs.
“The officer will also be able to give updates on recent changes to the 457 visa program, employer obligations and paths to permanent residence.”
The DIAC outreach officer will be available for individual appointments in Karratha between August 30 and September 2. Appointments are available in Port Hedland on September 2 and 3.
